This file contains documents pertaining to financial assistance from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for foreign scientists who would be attending the inauguration of Jonaki, a new complex at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) as well as the symposium on 'Frontiers of Tomorrow in Biology'. Both of these events occurred almost concurrently in 1987. This funding is provided as part of a collaboration between the NIH and CSIR (CCMB). The letters in this file are arranged from B to E. This file contains correspondence either addressed to or written by Edwin D Becker, Associate Director of the NIH, and Robert Eliss of the Fogarty International Center at the NIH. A letter addressed to Becker includes annexures as enclosures which are retained as found. Since one copy of a telegram contains an extra paragraph at the outset, both are saved. Most of the correspondence in this file are telegrams.
