This file contains documents pertaining to financial assistance from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for foreign scientists who would be attending the inauguration of Jonaki, a new complex at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), as well as the symposium on 'Frontiers of Tomorrow in Biology'. Both of these events occurred almost concurrently in 1987. This funding is provided as part of a collaboration between the NIH and CSIR (CCMB). This file consists of a letter addressed to Philip Schambra, the Science Attache to the US Embassy. However, two copies of the same letter are retained since they have annotations on them. This letter is accompanied by numerous annexures and appendices, a few of them are retained in this file, while the others are retained in subsequent files labelled 'Documents from 1987 pertaining to financial assistance from NIH - Philip Schambra - June - file 2, file 3, file 4 and file 5'. This also has a few handwritten notes.
