Scope and content
This file includes documents pertaining to the collaboration between the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for conducting life science experiments on NASA's Spacelab. These letters are from June 1978. This file contains two letters written by PM Bhargava. One letter is addressed to Stanley Deutsch, the Director of the Life Science Payloads and Applications at NASA. The other letter is addressed to YS Rajan, Assistant Scientific Secretary of ISRO. Both of these letters mention an enclosure titled 'Proposal for Consideration for the Spacelab Life Sciences Flight Experiment'. However, only one copy of the proposal was discovered in the original file, which is placed after these two letters. The remaining pages of this enclosure are stored in a file labelled 'Documents pertaining to CCMB's collaboration with ISRO to conduct life science experiments on NASA's Spacelab from 1978 - June - file 2' to ensure better preservation. This file also contains a small handwritten note.
